Functional Treatment of Mandibular Condyle Fractures in Children; Report of Two Cases
Abstract
This is a report of functional treatment of condyle fracture in cases of growing children.
The principle of the functional treatment is that it induces active training of masticatory muscle by hinge, protrusive and lateral movements primarily and transformative growth of fractured condyle follows secondarily.
We sued acrylic resin splint which guides exercise of masticatory muscles and induces transformative growth of traumatic condyles.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. Early exercise prevents ankylosis of fractured condyle.
2. Optimal physical exercise therapy induces the normal growth pattern by muscular training & bony remodeling of fractured condyle in children.
